CHALLENGE

UEFN experiences don’t always succeed at bringing players back to their maps. Our teams at Oni and SuperJoy created an experience that was highly replayable. We developed incentives that engaged players and kept them returning to our map for more, establishing Rocket Wars as a top UEFN experience. 

SOLUTION

SuperJoy Studios and Oni Studios devised a multifaceted solution that focused on engaging players, sustaining engagement, and community involvement. Our mission was to reignite the exciting feeling players experienced when they won their first victory royale. To play up that excitement, several features were introduced:

  • Custom Victory Animation Screens
  • Rare Animation Rewards
  • Fortnite Creator Cameos:  Noteable Fortnite creators like SypherPK, Ninja, Loserfruit, Courage, and LEGIQN made cameo appearances within Rocket Wars.

In order to keep players engaged, we introduced regular updates influenced by community feedback, hosted community contests, and invited players to tournaments. Ultimately, Rocket Wars was an experience developed with the Fortnite community in mind. 

RESULTS

In the first week, Rocket Wars achieved remarkable milestones, with over 300K Daily Active Players and an impressive 2.6M Lifetime Plays. This overwhelming response cemented its position as an immediate sensation within the UEFN landscape. Rocket Wars was featured on Fortnite.com in UEFN categories such as "Best of UEFN" and "Popular UEFN Experiences." 

Rocket Wars was featured in a VentureBeat article highlighted Rocket Wars' playtime, which rivaled that of popular games like Among Us. Adding to the public recognition was Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, who acknowledged the map's achievements on X/Twitter.

Since its initial launch, Rocket Wars has maintained an average of 72K Daily Active Players and an astonishing 55M Lifetime Plays. This enduring engagement underscored the map's staying power, demonstrating its ability to retain players' interest and deliver a uniquely creative player experience.
